PR

Hello everybody. I post all my story.

It is really a long story. plz be patient to read it.

I promise it's a interesting story.

Plz read from "my project", I post the introduction on it.

I hope all of U will like my story.

Btw, my friend J said it is a dangerous love story. But I don't think so.

Chapter 9

The next morning, I went to Ivan’s house. His driver took us to a warehouse. Ivan and I went in. Some big men were waiting for us there already.
Ivan took them to another warehouse which was full of boxes. He opened one and showed them the guns inside. When they are checking the guns, there were sounds of siren.
“Why are the fucking police here? Let’s run away,” one of the big men said. All of them ran away, but Ivan didn’t move.
“Why don’t you run away?” I asked.
“What’s about you? Why don’t you arrest me? It’s good chance now.”
“You already knew!” I said in surprise.
“So, what will you do now? Will you arrest me or let me knock you down and set me free like what you did for that boy?”
I looked him in surprise.
“Are you surprised I know that? I am not stupid. Do you think I would believe that the boy could knock you down because of your carelessness?”
I was still. He knew everything already, but he still let me stay with him. Why? Suddenly, I was afraid of him, because I didn’t know what he was thinking.
“I gave you a lot of chances. I thought you wouldn’t betray me. I believed I could change you. But you disappoint me. I won’t forgive your treachery.” He took out his gun and pointed it at me.
I was shocked. “Calm down, Ivan.” I said.
“How can I be calm? You’ve disappointed me too much.”
“I was really worried about your safety these three years. And I’d like to be your friend, but it only after your mafia disbands and you come out of prison.”
“You must be disappointed. I won’t get into prison and I won’t believe you anymore!” He still pointed at me.
“Even if you shoot me, there is no good in it for you. You’re a smart man. I don’t believe you will shoot.”
“You’re right, I won’t shoot you. But the reason is I love you.”
My eyes grew wide when I heard that. I even forgot my words. I just looked at him in surprise. The warehouse became very quiet.
I had never been shocked like that before. It was the second time that a man had said he loved me. But he said it full of hate. And with his gun pointed at me. What a strange situation I was in!
“I won’t let you stay with the boy. Let me show you something interesting.” He opened one box. There was a time limited bomb inside.
I was crazy when I saw the time limited was three minutes left. “Stop it!” I shout.
He smiled calmly. “I can’t stop it. I left the remote on my car. I set up the time. If the police won’t come, we can finish the deal and get in my car before it blow up. Then I’ll stop it. But if the police come, we’ll die together here.”
“Are you crazy?” I was afraid of him. I couldn’t believe what he did.
“Yes, I am crazy. Since I found out you and the boy were in love, I have been crazy.”
“We don’t have time to talk about that. We must run away now!”
“No, I won’t go, and won’t let you go. I am tired of this world. Let’s go to the heaven.”
“This is no time to joke. Run, quickly! We don’t have time.”
He smiled. The smile was cold and frightening.
Before I could say anything more, the bomb blew up. I felt somebody protected me before I lost consciousness.
Once I came around, I was in hospital. I saw Bruno sitting beside my bed. “Thank God that you’ve come around. You are in coma for seventy-four hours.”
“What’s about Ivan?” I asked.
“I am sorry, but when we arrived inside, he was dead. You are still alive, because he protected you very well when the bomb blew up.”
I didn’t say a word. I won’t tell Bruno about Ivan’s love for me. I would keep it for a secret all my life. Many years later, when I thought of his love, I thought it was supreme. If I was aware of his love, bad things wouldn’t happen. I felt so sorry for him. I hope he is happy with his mother in heaven.
“By the way, I’d like to tell you that Lawrence is a dead man now and your new identity is James Dominic, a teacher. So people in mafia won’t find you.”
“Thank you.”
“Do you think clearly? Would you really want to live abroad with Rex?”
I nodded. “I have come back alive, so my only one wish now is to live with Rex forever.”
“I see.”
“What about Rex these days?” I asked. “Did he come to see me?”
“Nobody knows you’re still alive, except me. You can call him now, he must be happy, if he knows you are alive.”
“But I’m not sure he wants to see me,” I said a little sad.
“Don’t worry. He just needs time. He’ll accept the whole thing some day.”
“I hope so.”
I stayed in hospital for a week. I dialed to Rex many times, but he didn’t listen. I couldn’t wait. I went to Mr. Thomas’s villa to find him. However, I didn’t know a piece of shocked news was waiting for me.
“Why are you still alive?” Mr. Thomas looked at me in surprise.
“Yes, I am still alive, I have come back alive. Please let me meet Rex.”
He laughed loudly. “You can’t see him again. He is in heaven now.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. “You must be joking, Mr. Thomas.”
“I wish I could be just kidding you now. But it’s the truth. He killed himself because the news said you are dead in the bomb.”
“No… no… no!” I couldn’t believe it. How stupid he was!
“If you were alive, why didn’t you come a little early? Why didn’t you come before he killed himself?” He hit me down. “Get out before I kill you!”
I left despairingly. I get in a taxi but I didn’t know where to go. At last, I went to that port town. The seascape was the same as that day, but I was without Rex. My heart was broken. Even to take breath was difficult for me. At that time I knew I loved him not only as a brother but also as a lover.
If I had been able to come back to the past, I would have told l him I loved him. If time could have been able to be reversed, I would have told him I was still alive. If I had been able to know how it would end before, I would have wished we hadn’t met.
Everything was a joke from God. Or it might not a joke; maybe it was a punishment—a punishment for my love, because I was in love with my brother.
The sun was on the sky. The weather was warm, but I felt cold. I screamed as loudly as I could. Tears ran down my cheeks.
That was all fifty-seven yeas ago. Now it is 2067. I am no longer a skillful policeman. I am just an old man and very weak now. Bruno sometimes visited my home over the years. But he died two years ago. Instead of him, his handsome son and lovely granddaughter often come to see me. They always bring me something delicious and help me to clean my house. I am very thankful for it.
Tonight, the moon is very beautiful. I look at it for a while and close the curtain. I’ll go to bed. Before I sleep I always look at Rex’s picture and say good night. Today is the same. Now I am so sleepy. I’d like to close my eyes and have a good, long dream. In my dream, my dear brother is waiting for me and will take me to heaven.

Chapter 8

I returned to my life. I got up early the next morning. I went to Ivan’s villa after my breakfast.
“I’d like to talk with you a few minutes. Come with me,” he said.
We went in his office. He asked me to close the door.
“I’ll have some business on November third. It’s dangerous. I need you to come with me,” he said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Arms trade,” he replied.
I was a little surprised. I knew he dealt in, but not himself. He always asked someone to do it, but never did it himself.
“You never did that yourself, did you?” I asked.
“No, I never did it myself before. But from now on, I’ll do it myself.”
“Why?”
“I think that there is a spy in our mafia. I’ll take care of all the important business from now on, no matter what kind.”
I was surprised and a little afraid. Did he know anything about me? I was afraid of looking at his eyes. “But our arms deals never had any problems. Maybe you think too much,” I said.
“Anyway, I’ve decided,” he said.
“I see. I’ll be with you on November third,” I said.
“I am very tired these days. Let’s go to enjoy the hot springs after the deal.” He smiled.
“It sounds good,” I said.
I went back in the evening. When I arrived at my apartment, Mr. Thomas’s driver was waiting for me outside.
“Good evening. Mr. Thomas wants you to come to his villa. Please come with me,” he said politely and opened the door for me.
“I don’t have time.” I went past him.
“Mr. Thomas said you must come. Rex is very weak now,” he said.
“What?” I turned back and asked.
“He tried to kill himself that night when you asked us to come get him.”
I was shocked by his words. How stupid Rex was! I wasn’t sure whether I should go to see him or not.
“Please come with me,” he said.
I thought of Bruno’s words, I was able to break off contacts with Rex. However, how could I let him die for me? I got in the car.
When I arrived at the villa, Mr. Thomas took me to Rex’s room. Rex was on his bed and his face was pale. I felt so sorry. If I had known he would kill himself, I would have asked him to go away.
“He stabbed himself in the chest and lost a lot of blood. Once he came around he called your name,” Mr. Thomas said. “Let him rest. Come to my room. I want to talk with you.” He left, I was after him.
“As you see, my dear son tried to kill himself because of you. I really want to kill you. But I can’t, because Rex wouldn’t be happy with that.”
I was still. I had no words in return.
“I asked him to go abroad. But he told me he won’t go without you.”
I wasn’t surprised to hear that answer. I knew his love: the purest, supreme love. He just wanted to stay with me. But I wasn’t able to make his wish come true.
“Lawrence, go with Rex, please. He needs you.”
“I am sorry. I am not the person who can give him happiness.”
He took out a necklace and said, “Once I looked at this necklace, I felt sorry for him. If I hadn’t adopted him, he would have an ordinary life. He would not have been kidnapped more than ten times. He would be happier than now.”
“There is no ‘if’ in this world, Mr. Thomas. You did enough for Rex. Rex must be happy to be your adopted son.”
“I never told him about his birth family. It’s because I don’t want to him to think he was an orphan. This necklace is his, maybe from his birth parents. But I never showed it to him.”
“May I have a look?” I asked.
“Here you are.” He gave me the necklace.
When I looked at the necklace, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was the same as mine, and there was a V on it. “Is Rex’s birth-name Victor?” I asked.
“How do you know that?” Mr. Thomas looked at me in surprise.
I took out my necklace and showed it to him. “These two necklaces are a pair. There is a V on this one and an L on mine. It means Victor and Lawrence.”
“You’re brothers!” Mr. Thomas’s eyes were wide.
“If the necklace is Rex’s, he is my long-lost younger brother.”
Suddenly the door opened. “Tell me you’re just kidding. Tell me I am not your brother.” It was Rex’s voice.
“Rex!” Mr. Thomas said in surprise.
I slowly looked back. Rex stood beside the door with tears in his eyes. We looked at each other silently for a while.
“I found you. Thank God that I found you.” I hugged him tightly.
He pushed me and said, “No, it’s unbelievable. You must be joking. I don’t believe you.”
I put my hands on his shoulders. “Rex, you should be happy. We were apart for twenty years, and now we meet again. You’re my dear brother, my only relative in this world now. Do you know how I missed you? Nobody can take you away from me now.”
“Don’t touch me.” He pushed my hands away. “You know what I need is not a brother.” He went back his room and locked the door.
I stood outside and knocked at the door. But he didn’t answer me.
“Give him some time. He will need time to accept that you are blood relatives. You know how deeply he loves you. He can’t accept it right now, but he will accept it some day. Until that day come, please wait patiently,” Mr. Thomas said.
“I see. He doesn’t want to see me. I’ll go back. Take care of him, please.”
“Think about my advice again. If you’re brothers, you have a reason to go abroad with him now. I’ll wait for your answer.”
I nodded and left.
That night, I went to Bruno’s place and told him everything—both of Ivan’s plan and the whole story of Rex and me. I said I wanted to quit my job and stay with Rex after I finished my work. Bruno asked me to think again. He didn’t want me to quit the job. But he said if I insisted, I would be able to be free once they arrested Ivan on November third.
Three days had gone by, and I hadn’t met Rex again. Mr. Thomas told me Rex didn’t leave his bedroom for those three days. I knew Rex needed time, so I had to wait.
The next day was November third. I was ready. It was very dangerous and might be my last work. I might not come back again. Even so, I hoped the next day would come soon. If I could come alive, I would go to see Rex. I also hoped he would want to see me. Then I would go abroad with him.
When I went to bed that night, I couldn’t sleep. When I closed my eyes, I could see Rex in my head. Then I got up and called him. However, he didn’t answer my call. I had no idea what to do, so I send a message to tell him what I was thinking. I hoped he would be happy with my decision. After a few minutes, I slept.

Chapter 7

Bruno’s words were always in my head those days. I was thinking about how to break off contact with Rex. I drove here and there around the city. Then I stopped in front of Rex’s apartment.
I was confused. I still didn’t know how to tell him that I wanted to break off contact with him. I stayed in my car and looked at my cell-phone. I didn’t know whether call him or not. After a while, I dialed his number.
“I’m downstairs from your apartment. I have something to say to you. Come down here. I’m waiting for you in my car.”
“I also have something to say. Wait a moment. I’ll be there soon.” He hung up.
When he came down, I got out of my car and went over to him.
“What do you want to say?” I asked.
“I’d like to hear what you have to say first,” he replied.
“OK. I just want to say one thing. Let’s end this. It’ better for us.”
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Let’s break off ties. Don’t call me and don’t get in my way anymore.”
He was still. For a while, he looked at the ground, and I looked at him.
“What did you want to say?” I asked.
He raised his head. “I have nothing to say now. I wanted to ask you a question before, but I know the answer now.”
“Then I’ll go now.”
“Wait, Lawrence. I need a reason.”
“I told you before. We can’t be friends.”
“But you didn’t tell me why. I won’t listen to you if you can’t give me an appropriate reason.”
“There is no good for in us continuing contact. In other words, you are a weight in my life.”
“You have another choice. If you quit your job, it is no problem for us to be friends. You’re doing dangerous work. You can quit, why don’t you?”
“It’s not a good choice. I won’t change my mind. I have to go.”
“Why won’t you listen to me for once?” He stopped me.
“Things are not easy like you think,” I replied. I couldn’t tell him the truth. Until Bruno arrested Ivan I had to wait.
“Just for now, please listen to my advice,” he said.
“Don’t keep after me like that!” Sometimes I thought he was annoying. Why didn’t he just do what I said?
“You force me to be like this. Since you saved me at that villa that day, my mind is full of you. I miss you every day. And since I saved you in that alley, I was also worried about you. I am afraid that you will get hurt again. Tell me, what should I do?” He was close to tears.
“Forget me and everything about me. Our relationship must end tonight. ”
“No, I can’t.” He looked at me and shook his head.
“You must,” I said coldly and turned to go.
Before I got in my car, he embraced me from behind. “Please don’t leave me.”
I didn’t know what his face looked like at that moment, because my back was to him. But I could feel that he embraced me tightly. I knew he didn’t want me to go. However, I had to go.
“Don’t act like a child.” I pulled away. As Bruno said, I had to end our connection. I left him there and went away.
I didn’t go straight home. I drove my car with no destination. At last I went to the top of the mountain to see the night view. Suddenly, the rain came down. I got in my car and listened to the patter of the raindrops. The pouring rain was fitting to my sad feelings.
I thought that I had said everything to him and we would not meet again. However, I was wrong. He was one hundred times more persistent than I thought.
The next evening, my phone was ringing on the table. It rang for a long time, but I didn’t listen. Fifteen minutes later, it stopped.
I picked up it and looked at the screen. There were more than one hundred missed calls, all from Rex. I knew it would be like that. He was really like a woman. I never knew a man who would be so persistent as to make one hundred calls.
I put away my cell-phone and walked to the window. When I looked out of it, I was shocked. I saw Rex downstairs. What was he doing? Didn’t he know he was doing a dangerous thing? I went downstairs right away.
He stood in front of his car. And he looked very calm, like he was sure that I would come.
I went over to him and asked, “What are you doing here now?”
“Why don’t you answer my calls?” he didn’t answer me but asked a question.
“I told you, not call me again. Did you forget?”
“But I’d like to ask you a question, the last one,” he replied.
“Did anybody tell you before that you’re very annoying?” I said.
“It will be the last time. Think carefully and give me your answer,” he said and stopped a few seconds. “Do you love me?” he asked.
It was a difficult question. How could I answer? I wanted to know the answer too. His face was always in my mind. I was worried about him and missed him almost every day. Because of him I even argued with Bruno. When I looked at his sad face, I felt sad too. Was it love? If it was love, my love was a forbidden fruit.
“Go back. I said everything last time. Don’t waste time on me,” I said in a cold voice.
He smiled when he heard my words, but his face looked so sad. “I love you, Lawrence. You are inside here,” he said and pointed at his heart. “How can I forget you? If I can’t see you again, my heart will be broken. And I will be too sad to breathe,” he said, his eyes full of sadness.
“That’s your problem, not mine.” I turned to go. My words might hurt him, but I had no choice.
“Wait, Lawrence.” He stopped me and put a knife in my hand.
I looked at him in surprise. What did he want to do? He was capable of stupid things, I thought.
“If you don’t love me, if you want me to forget you, use this knife to stop my heart before you leave. Then I won’t be sad anymore, I won’t get in your way again, and I will be able to forget you.” His tears ran down.
“I don’t have time to play this stupid game with you. Get away and don’t come here again.” I left and went into my apartment as fast as I could. I didn’t want to stay there a second more. I was afraid that if I listened to him any more, I would change my mind.
I dialed Mr. Thomas’s number. “Please come get your son. I will be thankful for it.” I hung up.
The clock on the wall was going on. I was restless. One second was an hour for me. I was afraid of going near to the window and looking out of it. I didn’t know what I would do if he was still there. I sat on the sofa and looked at the clock. Thirty minutes went past. I stood up and went near to the window. I was relieved when I saw nobody downstairs.
I just wanted him to leave then. However, I forgot that love is supreme. It always makes people brave and crazy. Sometimes it is good, but sometimes it isn’t.

Chapter 6

Things did not always go well. Sometimes when people still are enjoying happiness, bad things come to visit.
I thought that day with Rex would be a secret. However, I was wrong.
One day, Bruno called me out. We met at a park which was far away from the city. That was our first meeting in those three months. And it was the first time we nearly fought.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
“I’m fine.”
“How was your last Wednesday? I mean what about your date?”
I was surprised. Last Wednesday I was with Rex. Did Bruno know anything about that? How did he know?
“What are you talking about?” I asked as calmly as I could.
“Do you want to lie to me? No, you shouldn’t. I am your friend. You should tell me the whole truth. And remember whatever happens I am always your supporter,” he said.
His question was sudden. I didn’t know how to answer. Could I tell him the whole story? I was confused.
“Let me answer the questions in your head. After the last time Rex was in danger at the club, Mr. Thomas asked us for help. Now, police follow him to ensure his safety every day. So, we know all his activities. Of course, including last Wednesday his date with you, my friend.”
His words shocked me. I was not aware that the police had followed us. How careless I was!
“Not only about last Wednesday, I heard the whole story.”
“What do you want to say?” I asked.
“I never doubted you, but that was only before you met Rex. I would like to remind you not forget your responsibility.”
“I know what I am doing now. Don’t worry.”
“Rex is good-looking. However, he is a man and you are too. Don’t forget this, my dear friend.”
I was still. I knew what Bruno meant. I never forgot Rex was a man, but so what? I was just felt comfortable to stay with him, not in love with him. Did anybody care what sex his friend was? I didn’t think there was anything wrong with two men being close friends.
“Forget him. There are a lot of important things wait for you to do. Don’t let him bother your life.”
“I don’t think he will affect me.”
“He’s already affected you. You must break off contact with him.”
“Don’t tell me what to do. I told you I know what I am doing now,” I said a little angrily.
“No, you don’t. If you knew, you would not have saved him twice. If you knew, you would not hang out with him. If you know, you would understand that you are in a dangerous situation now. Since you met him, you have changed. But you haven’t realized it yet.”
I couldn’t say anything in return. No, to save a hostage was not a mafia member’s work. I had no excuse.
“Listen, Lawrence. I won’t let you be in dangerous. I must stop you now.” He put his hands on my shoulders. “You and I both know if Ivan finds out about this, he will be very angry. But we don’t know what he will do if he gets angry with you. You can’t make him angry or all your hard work these three years will be a waste. Do you forget your identity? You’re a cop, in fact. Don’t forget what you promised me three years ago. And also don’t forget my reminder what I told you at that time.”
“Don’t talk about that stupid promise. And remember I am not afraid of danger.” I caught his collar and said.
“Why do you still not understand? You can forget your promise. You can not be afraid of death. But have you forgotten your younger brother? Have you given up looking for him? If you die, who will look for him?”
“I will not die. I will keep my promise. I am tired today, I’m leaving.” I left. I didn’t want to continue that conversation anymore. I was upset. I needed time to deal with all these things.
That night I went to bed early but I couldn’t sleep well. In my dream, I remembered three years before…

I was a policeman that time and Bruno was chief. He was the youngest chief and very skillful. Everybody respected him and I did too. In fact, he was my idol. I hoped one day I would be able to be a perfect man like him.
One day, I met Bruno in the corridor of the station. “Just come with me for a few minutes, please,” he said. He took me into his office and closed the door and curtain.
“Sit down, please,” he said.
I took a seat and asked, “What’s the matter, sir?”
“Lawrence, you’re a brave and skillful policeman, I think,” he said with a smile.
“Thank you, sir.”
“I have some dangerous work for you. Nobody can do it in our team except you.”
“What is the work?” I asked.
“Do you know Ivan Byron?” he asked.
“Yes, of course. Ivan Byron—the most powerful mafia leader in this country.”
“Good. The work is to go undercover in his mafia. It’s a very, very dangerous work. Will you do it for me?”
I was silent for a while. It was dangerous work. If I was careless, I could die anytime. But it was also a good chance to challenge. So I said, “Yes, I’d like to do it.”
“Thank you. It’ll be very dangerous. Nobody can know what you are doing. I’ll be the only one who knows. If anyone else knows, it will be dangerous for you and for anybody who knows too,” he said.
“I see. I’ll keep it a secret.”
“I’ll call you once a week. You should report to me what information you get. If you need any help, call me anytime, day or night. Keep this card, my number is on it,” he said and gave me his name-card.
“When will I start?” I asked.
“Next week. I’ll make a chance for you. Remember one more point. Once you start this job you can’t stop until we arrest Ivan,” he said.
“I’ll do my best. Trust me,” I said.
“Good. Go back and get ready. I’ll call you next week.”
When the next week came, Bruno called me to a churchyard. He asked three men to hit me, but it was just faction. Ivan saved me. Then I started my undercover life. That was three years before.

The next morning, I thought a lot and then called Bruno.
“I am sorry for yesterday. I won’t meet him again. About my work, I will do my best. Please trust me,” I said.
“I always trust you. I am happy to hear that you have changed your mind. Don’t forget you’re doing dangerous work. Be careful.”
“I see. Thank you.” I hung up.

Chapter 5

I was a little nervous when I opened the door. There was Ivan’s angry face. He walked in and sat on the sofa. His body language was gentle but his face was dark.
“Give me an explanation,” he said.
“What’s wrong? Why are you angry now?” I asked as calmly as I could.
“Don’t tell me you don’t know what happened in the club. They saw your car outside,” he said.
“I went the club tonight and came back just now. Did anything wrong? I am still on holiday, right? Why couldn’t I go to a club for fun?” I asked like I was really innocent.
“Didn’t you do anything more in there?”
“What did I do? I just drank some cocktails. That was all,” I said.
“Did you see the boy there?” he asked.
“There were a lot of people there. How do I know whether he was there?” I replied.
“I hope you are not lying,” he said and looked at my eyes.
“Do you doubt me now?” I asked.
“I just want to know the truth,” he said in a cold voice.
“I’ve told you everything. To trust me or not is up to you,” I said.
“Don’t disappoint me,” he said not very amicably.
“I never wanted.”
“There are only two hours left of your vacation. Enjoy them.” Ivan left.
I was relieved after Ivan left. I didn’t want to argue with Ivan because of Rex.
The next day I started my work. On the way back to my place, there was a car in front of my apartment. A tall man walked out and over to me.
“Mr. Thomas would like to talk to you for a few minutes; please get in the car,” he said politely.
I got in the car and saw Mr. Thomas was inside. “What can I do for you, Mr. Thomas?” I asked.
“Thank you for saving my son twice,” he said amicably.
“Not at all,” I said.
“Would you like to come to work for me? I’d like you to be Rex’s bodyguard. What do you think?” he asked.
“Both you and Rex are funny. Do you think if I am his bodyguard, he will be safe?” I asked.
“I believe you can protect Rex, don’t you?”
“The best way to ensure his safety is send him abroad or sell out all your property,” I said and gave him a big smile.
“What?” he asked.
“If there is nothing more, I’ll go.” I got out of the car and went into my apartment.
Time went quickly. It was one month later. I went to a port town to relax. I liked the sea. I was relaxed when I saw the beautiful sea and felt the wind from the sea. But I didn’t like the beach, because there were always too many people and it was too noisy.
Sometimes, I thought that meeting Rex might have been my destiny. We didn’t meet for a month. I didn’t have any news about him that month. However, on that lovely warm afternoon, at my familiar port, I heard his voice again.
“Hi, Lawrence. It’s the first time I can say hi to you when I want,” he said cheerfully. He put his hand on my shoulder and stood next to me.
I replied nothing but gave him a warm smile.
“I haven’t seen you for a month. How are you doing?” he asked.
“Fine. By the way, why are you here?” I was surprised to meet him there. The port was not a popular place. I didn’t often see anyone there.
“I like to sail my yacht to the middle of the sea. My yacht is docked near here,” he replied.
“I see,” I said.
“Would you like to come with me?” he invited.
“It sounds good,” I said.
We got on the yacht. It was a nice yacht. Rex was a skilled sailor. An hour later, his yacht was stopped in the middle of the sea. The beautiful sea was around us.
I sat on the sundeck and looked out at the beautiful sea. The seascape was nicer than I had ever seen. Rex came to sit beside me.
“How do you feel now?” he asked.
“I enjoy sitting here to feel the sunlight. It’s comfortable,” I replied.
“The breezes and the fresh air here are my favorite. I’m enjoying this moment, because here is only you and me. If it’s possible, I would like time to stop at this moment. Once we go back, even to say hi is impossible.”
For a while I didn’t say a word. Then I put my right hand on his left softly. “Don’t think too much. Tomorrow is another day.”
Winds blew softly. The air was rich with the smell of the sea. We closed our eyes and enjoyed the sunlight. After a while, he was asleep on my shoulder. I felt comfortable.
The sun was going down. The sea turned purple. I touched him softly. He opened his eyes soon and looked at me very shy.
“I am sorry for falling asleep.” He left my shoulder.
I liked his shy face. It looked very lovely. I shook my head and smiled.
“I will sail back to the port. You can stay here and enjoy the view.” He left.
We arrived at the port an hour later. The sun had gone down and the sky was dark now.
“Thank you for today. I was very happy,” I said.
“Me too. What about going to my house? I’ll cook for you.” He asked me to get in his car and drove to his private house.
“Wait a moment. I’ll cook now. Do you like spaghetti and borscht? They are my specialty.”
“They are my favorite foods. I can’t wait.” I was waiting for the dinner on the sofa. I remembered that night in the room where he saved me. That was a warm memory for me. “If every day was like today, I would be the luckiest man in the world,” I looked at his back and thought.
Thirty minutes later, there were spaghetti and borscht on the table. They were looked delicious.
“What about having some wine. I have a bottle of good wine.” He put two glasses on the table and opened a bottle.
“Cheers.” We started our dinner.
I tasted some spaghetti first and stopped. “Are you sure you put in salt not sugar?” I asked.
He tasted some but spit it out soon. “I am sorry. It must have been sugar.”
I looked at him and smiled as warmly as I could. “Let’s have some borscht.”
We had some borscht but spit it out the next second. We both laughed. The borscht was too sweet.
I held up the glass and said, “Cheers. As I see it, our dinner is only wine.”
I still remember the taste of the sweet spaghetti and borscht. That day was the sweetest day in our story. Whenever I think of that day, there is always a smile on my face.

Chapter 4

It was a lovely warm afternoon. My mobile phone was ringing on the desk. It was my friend Bruno.
“What’s up?” I said.
“Somebody told me that you were hurt by a stranger. Are you OK? Did he hurt you badly? How is your wound now?” he asked.
“Oh, Bruno. You ask me too many questions. How can I answer you for once? Thank you for worried about me. I am fine now. The wound doesn’t matter.” I replied.
“Be careful next time! I don’t want you to get hurt again,” he said.
“I will take care of myself. Don’t worry.”
“If you need any help, call me any time,” he said.
“I see. Thank you.” I hung up.
Bruno was a good man. He knew my job was dangerous. So he was always worried about me and asked me to be careful. We didn’t meet often, because he was a police chief. Things would be complicated, if anybody knew about our connection.
The warmly sunlight shined across the window and into my room. I looked at the clock. It was two o’clock. After the fight, I didn’t make contact with Ivan, because he was drunk and I was in pain. But I had to call him at once. I was worried about him. I wanted to know if he went back to his villa safely last night.
Before I could dial his number, there was a knock on the door. Who would come at this time? I opened the door with the question in my head. When I opened the door, Ivan hugged me. He came in with his personal doctor.
“I’m sorry for leaving you alone last night,” he said.
“I’m fine. But how do you feel now? You drank too much last night. I was worried about you,” I said.
Ivan left me and said, “I feel much better now. And I knew what happened last night already. My driver told me everything. The man was caught by our member this morning. I talked with him before I came. Anyway, let the doctor check your wound first.”
“Don’t worry. My wound doesn’t matter. I don’t need a doctor to check it.”
“No, I will worry about you if I cannot hear my doctor say you are fine,” he insisted.
“Ok, I will let him to check my wound,” I said.
The doctor came over to me. I took off my clothes and show him my wound. He checked it carefully and bandaged it again.
“Your wound was bandaged very well last night. It will be healed in a week. I think you’d better rest for a week,” he said amicably.
“Thank you. I will ask my driver to send you back,” Ivan said.
After the doctor left, Ivan sat on the sofa and looked at me. “I feel sorry for you. If I hadn’t got drunk, you would not have gotten hurt,” he said and put his hand on his head.
“That’s OK, to ensure your safety is my duty,” I said. I didn’t want Ivan to blame himself too much. The night before had just been accidental.
“Don’t talk about your duty now. I don’t want to hear this. Do you know how worried I was about you when I heard that the man hurt you?” he said.
“I am sorry for making you worry about me. I feel better now, so don’t worry.”
“Do you forget my words? I think I told you to be careful last time. Why did you get hurt again? And this time is worse, you got a knife cut,” he said.
“I will be careful next time. I won’t get hurt again,” I said.
“I hope not,” he said and gave me a smile.
“By the way, what are you going to do with the man?” I asked.
“He said he was instructed by somebody in another mafia. Someone wants me to die, but not that man who attacked you,” he said.
“Do you have any idea who the person is?” I asked.
“I asked our member to do some research. I think I will get the answer soon.”
“What will you do next?” I asked.
“I’ll let the person know how stupid he is. He will regret what he did,” he said.
“But you won’t kill him, will you?” I asked.
“To kill a fool is not my interest,” he replied.
“That’s you,” I smiled.
“Don’t care about the person. From today you have one week vacation. Get some rest. You can stay in my villa if you want. I’m afraid you can’t take care of yourself,” he said kindly.
“Thank you, but I would like to stay here. Don’t worry, I am not a child.”
“I see. Anyway, take care. I’m leaving,” he said.
“Be careful when I am not with you. Don’t get into danger if you want me to rest,” I said.
He smiled but said nothing, then left.
From that day, I started my one week holidays.
One night, I went to a club alone one week. I didn’t often go to club. In fact, I didn’t like club so much. For me, it was too noisy there. I was there that night, because it was the last day of my holidays. However, it was not a good night.
I never imaged I would meet Rex again. And it was in that dangerous situation.
It was surprising for me to see Rex was with his friend in the club. Neither of us said hello. Our relation was complicated. It wasn’t good to say hello in public places.
One hour later, when I wanted to leave, I saw Ivan’s men there. They were looking for somebody. Soon I understood their purpose. I walked over to Rex, grabbed his arms, and took him into the restroom as soon as I could.
“I must take Rex away before they find him,” I thought.
I put my arm around him, one hand on his mouth, and my mouth was near to his ear. “Will you do anything for me without questions?” I whispered him quietly.
He nodded.
I looked out of the window. Outside was the backstreet. I knew the nearest way to my car from there. I went out through the window first. Rex followed me. We got in my car. We were out of breath, but there was no time for us to take a break. I drove away at once.
I thought we were very lucky when I remembered that night many years later. If there hadn’t been a window in the restroom, we couldn’t have run away.
“Now could you tell me what’s wrong?” he asked.
“Ivan’s men want to kidnap you,” I replied.
“I’ve guessed. Where will you take me?” he said.
“Call your father and let me listen,” I said.
I asked Mr. Thomas to send his bodyguard to my apartment to take Rex home, and told him Rex would tell him the whole story.
I drove home as fast as I could. At one point I was going over 180km/h.
When we arrived, three bodyguards and a driver were already there.
“Be careful,” I said before Rex got out
He nodded and gave a smile, then got out.
I parked my car and went back to my house immediately. I took a short break then made a cup of tea. The room was full of the smell of tea soon.
Things were going as I expected. There was a knock on the door ten minutes later. It was Ivan.
